The Student Governing Council (SGC) serves as the students' primary voice to the leadership and is the primary governing body at KUMC.
Completely student run and supported by faculty advisors, the SGC consists of representatives from all four schools at KUMC: Allied Heath, Graduate Studies, Medicine, and Nursing. We disburse student fees to registered student groups, provide services to the student body (like ticket give-aways and legal services), and promote all aspects of student life with committees ranging from technology to parking to legislative. We generally meet on the first Thursday of every month.

SGC News and Events

Business and Funding meetings are always open to all students of KUMC, but senators are required to attend. Executive meetings require only the Executive Board to attend but are also always open to students .

The SGC meets with the Executive Vice Chancellor and other administrators once per month at EVC/SGC meetings. Please attend our business meetings to raise issues you feel are important enough to address with senior leadership here at KUMC. Seldom is there such a direct voice for students to affect change at their respective academic organizations. One more benefit of being involved in your Student Governing Council!

Ticket Give Away: (PLEASE bring your STUDENT ID)
When: January 22nd and 23rd & March 5th and 6th
Where: Stoland Lounge, Outside the KU Med Center Bookstore in Orr-Major
Who: Any registered KUMC student. You must have a KUMC ID to receive any tickets.
What: TBA (Stay Tuned)

How it works: Distribution of tickets will be based on a lottery system. The numbers will be randomly selected using a random number generator. We will call numbers for as many tickets as we have to distribute. If your number is called, you will be able to choose from the remaining tickets. YOU MUST BE PRESENT TO RECEIVE TICKETS! We are unable to reserve or hold tickets for any reason. Tickets will be given away in pairs. To use the sporting event tickets (i.e KU football) you must also show your KU ID at the game. However, many of the cultural event tickets may be used by anyone, but must be picked up by a KUMC student.

*Student's who show up after sign-in will be allowed to participate; however, these students will automatically be added to the end of the list and will only receive tickets if tickets remain after all numbers are called.
